Thisposition assists the Business Manager and the Financial Specialist I inoverseeing the fiscal and human resource functions of the department. Providesdirection and assistance to faculty and staff for fiscal and HR policycompliance along with granting agency guidelines and is responsible foraddressing questions and concerns in a timely manner. Position represents thedepartment in a professional manner, often dealing with individuals andorganizations external to the university. Inputs and reviews accounting and personneltransactions for compliance with UT fiscal policy, UT human resource policy andUniform Guidance. Reconciles and evaluates the accuracy of the departmentalmonthly account ledgers, ensuring appropriate amounts, documentation andexpenditure classifications are properly recorded. Assist faculty withassimilation of research proposal information. This includes budgetforecasting, financial reporting and tracking of project deliverables. Responsible for proposalpreparation assistance and review, and post-award preparation of projectextension, re-budget, subcontract and closeout documentation. Performs otherAdministrative functions as needed.
Associates Degree or equivalent combination oftraining and experience. Bachelor's degree in Business or related fieldpreferred. Five - six years ofprogressively responsible accounting and administrative experience. Two plusyears of experience related to pre and post award Federal, state and privategrants and contracts at a comprehensive research university, in an academic departmentpreferred. Experience with SAP softwareand working knowledge of UT fiscal and HR policies and procedures preferred.
Musthave excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability tomulti-task; excellent organizational skills; extensive problem-solving skills;integrity; decisiveness; and a thorough understanding of confidentiality. Excellentorganizational and time-management skills, and ability to multi-task andprioritize tasks based on needs of others and with time-sensitive deadlines. Intermediate to advancedcomputer skills are required, with demonstrated proficiency using MS OfficeSuite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
